Interested in our databases? Visit WVInfoDepot.org for resources providing information on a large variety of topics. These resources are available to all West Virginians and do not require a library card with us. However, some of them may ask for login information. Looking for our full list of available databases? Click here for o​ur Databases A-Z​!​ Some of these databases may require a WVLC Library Card or other log-in information. Here, you can find resources such as:

  • AtoZ Databases​, which can be used to search for business information
  • Academic Search Complete contains thousands of academic journal articles
  • Biblioboard delivers eBooks, documents, letters, audio, maps, videos and more categorized into modules available from anywhere in the state of West Virginia
  • Business Source Elite searches business-focused magazines, journals, and company profiles from more than 1,000 business publications
  • Consumer Health Complete has health and fitness information including fact sheets, diagrams, drug information, procedure explanations, and more
  • GreenFILE has government, scholarly, and general-interest articles on environmental issues including global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more
  • Health Source Consumer Edition is a consumer health collection of magazine articles, reference books, and current pamphlets on topics such as fitness, nutrition, diabetes, aging, women's health, children's health, and more
  • LearningExpress provides practice tests and study guides for college admission exams, high school equivalency exams, professional certification, and military exams. It also has skill-building exercises for all-ages and all grades (K-12, college, and adult students) including math, English, science, and social studies. Citizenship and ESL exam prep are also available, as well as technology training and more
  • Newsbank provides articles from newspapers around West Virginia and throughout the United States. A Library Commission library card is needed to access this database.
  • Newspaper Source allows searching and access to newspaper articles and transcripts of news broadcasts. It includes the Charleston Gazette-Mail, Beckley's Register-Herald, and Morgantown's Dominion Post
  • NoveListPlus helps readers of all ages find new book recommendations, read-alikes, and books on a given topic. Search among thousands of popular fiction and nonfiction titles, retrieve book lists, book discussion guides, and more
  • PressReader provides access to the most current issues of more than 7,000 newspapers and magazines from throughout the U.S. and around the globe on your desktop or on a mobile device. A Library Commission library card is needed to access this database.

American Library Association

The American Library Association (ALA) is the oldest and large​st library association in the world.  Founded on October 6, 1876 during the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia, the mission of ALA is “to provide leadership for the development, promotion and improvement of library and information services and the profession of librarianship in order to enhance learning and ensure access to information for all.” 


Day by Day Family Literacy Calendar

Families, caregivers, educators, and librarians can use the Day By Day Family Literacy Calendar at home, library, classroom, or on the go. Institute of Museum and Library Services

The Institute of Museum and Library Services is the primary source of federal support for the nation’s 123,000 libraries (link is external) and approximately 35,000 museums. Our mission is to inspire libraries and museums to advance innovation, lifelong learning, and cultural and civic engagement. Our grant making, policy development, and research help libraries and museums deliver valuable services that make it possible for communities and individuals to thrive. 

Library of Congress

The Library of Congress is the nation's first established cultural institution and the largest library in the world, with millions of items including books, recordings, photographs, maps and manuscripts in its collections. 

West Virginia Archives and History

Whether studying for the Golden H​orseshoe exam, researching your family lineage, or looking for information on the history of West Virginia, the Archives and History website is the premier on-line resource. The site features primary and secondary source documents, photographs, and databases; lists collections and other materials available in the State Archives; and provides research guides and assistance for genealogists.​​​​

West Virginia Encyclopedia

The West Virginia Encyclopedia is the comprehensive reference resource for the Mountain State of West Virginia. Based on the best-selling West Virginia Encyclopedia, e-WV offers thousands of articles on West Virginia’s people and places, history, arts, science and culture. ​

West Virginia Law Library​

The W​est Virginia State Law Library​’s primary mission is to assist the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia, the statewide unified court system, and all judicial staff in carrying out the administration of justice. The State Law Library provides access to law-related information to the judiciary, legal community and the public.​​​

West Virginia Library Association​

The West Virginia Library Association (WVLA) was established in 1914 to promote library service and librarianship in West Virginia.  Through the work of its Divisions, Roundtables, andCommittees, WVLA advocates for library issues, distributes public information, and develops continuing education opportunities.
